Tonight, I just check some updates with my blogs/sites and I have found that I haven’t created a sitemap yet on my two sites. I figure it out when I tried to run some analytics (pearanalytics.com) in my site then I decided to create a Google Site map.
What is a sitemap? A sitemap is a way of organizing a website, identifying the URLs and the data under each section.
Why do we have to create an XML sitemap? We have to create an XML sitemap so that it can be submitted to Google, Bing, Yahoo and other search engines to help them crawl your website better.
It was so easy to build a google sitemap for your website done in easy 4 steps, all you have to do is to:
- go to free online site map generator then you have to enter full http address for your site
- click on start at the bottom part of the page. It has a maximum of 500 pages that will be indexed in site map once you started.
- You will be redirected to the generated sitemap details page, including number of pages, broken links list, XML file content and link to a sitemap file. Download the sitemap file using that link and put it into the domain root folder of your site.
- Lastly, add your site map URL in your Google Webmaster account.
